Most electrical work in your home must satisfy the requirements of Approved Document P of the building regulations. This states that anyone carrying out electrical installation work must make sure it's designed and installed to protect people from fire and electric shocks.

If your work is covered by Part P you must either:

N.B. A completion certificate can't be issued until a Competent Persons certificate has been provided to your LABC surveyor for any notifiable work.
