How to refresh your home this spring

Spring is here!

What better way to welcome it than to refresh your home and start a new project.

This doesn’t mean it has to be expensive or time consuming, it could be something as simple as organising or decorating.

For any of these below tips, you won’t need building regulations approval either, so there’s no need to delay.

Here are 5 simple tips to refresh your home today!

1. Declutter

Declutter to create the illusion of space - or make room for new things.

Not the most exciting but you will feel so much better once you have everything organised. You will have a better idea of what you have in your home and what to do with it all.

If you like to collect or hoard things, it's recommended that you try and get rid of anything you haven’t used in the past year. If you haven’t used it in the past year, you usually won’t be using it in the next year either.

2. Rearrange

Rearranging your living space won’t cost you anything but can give your home the refresh that it needs, and everything will feel brand new!

If you can’t rearrange your furniture, you can just rearrange your decorative pieces.

3. Home Decoration

Time to add in beautiful artwork, cushions, vases or candles. They are small additions but really can elevate the look of your home. If you have a smaller room, add a mirror to give the illusion of a bigger space.

Buy a bunch of fresh flowers for your table and bring in those bright spring colours and fragrances. You’ll feel happier looking at them too.

4. Colours

Adding more colours can really elevate the mood of a room. What better time than spring to be adding colours?

A terrific way to change up your living space is by adding an accent wall. Try a bold colour on one of your walls, either with paint or wallpaper, and give the room more personality.

If that’s too much effort or outlay, then add in something simple like new cushions in pastel or bolder colours - great for spring.

5. Scent

Every house has its own scent. Scents evoke emotions in us and having a scent that has positive memories attached to our home is important.

Introduce a new home scent for this spring to make your living space just that extra bit special.

This could be a home perfume, candles, essential oils, diffusers or just more bunches of spring flowers.

If you’re planning on refreshing your home in more structural ways, read our project guides and make sure to check if you’ll need building regulations approval. If you’re still unsure, do ask Anna.

Happy spring.
